Large and Melodious Thoughts
The timber used to create this instrument came as a gift and an apology. For years the log cured in AAI storage, a compensation for unrequited love. Wood cures slowly. Now the timber emerges transformed from the AAI workshop, carrying a memory formed in a central Texas forest when these words were read aloud, “Why are there trees I never walk under but large and melodious thoughts descend upon me?”
