Full Circle

In the summer of 2013, drought plagued central Texas. While inspecting oak trees near the Austin Aboriginal Instruments workshop for damage in the withering heat, RP Watson spotted a limb – long dead – high in the canopy. Cracks and fissures ran the curved length of the limb, a visible history of drought and rainfall, wind and sun, animal claw and bug bite. Through vision and effort now transformed, this instrument tells tales of light gathered, life supported, and the drought that brought about its end.
